Belwood Oaks 2, Penicuik Garden

The design concept took shape from the clients' input "I love heart shape but not expecting you to include that in your project."

True, I haven't managed to introduce a whole shape but only half of the heart, a space that became so dynamic and fluid, with a unique, personal character: A vibrant, informal VS natural look reflected in the composition lines, volumes, colours, and textures. The clients love the white tones, soft lilac, and blues.

The existing front house's Patio was extended into a new large format light London Stone's porcelain. The Patio will be used for morning coffee and dining Al fresco.

The Lower/Central area became "Half of the Heart", the input shape of the garden design. It will be accessed from the new steps and will be the central interest point of the garden, an ample area to relax all year round, bringing in a splash of fragrances, colours and evergreen planting to create intimacy and a sense of belonging to the place.

All along the lateral fences, green Hedges formed by a mix of, multi-stemmed small trees (Prunus incisa, Magnolia stellata, Amelanchier canadensis) shrubs (Spiraea nipponica, Syringa PW, Hydrangea Annabelle, Saracocca confusa, Physocarpus opulifolius), grasses and perennials.

Together with an Area to enjoy the evening sun in the lower corner of the garden, the whole space will include all the elements and the client's requirements: "a perfect retreat for us to relax in".
